This poster shows one of Picasso’s linocuts, a cubist composition. Taking advantage of the possibilities offered by the thick lines of this technique, the master cuts the linoleum so deeply that it creates the effect of a woodcut.
Picasso used yellow, red, green and black for this work, which he applied in this order using a single linoleum sheet, according to Brigitte Baer. The combination of colours, marked with gouge marks, is reminiscent of the work of Vincent van Gogh.
