Christian Zervos entitled this drawing “Carnival” in his Catalogue raisonné; and Brigitte Baer entitled it “The Old Clown” in her Catalogue raisonné when commenting on Picasso’s linocut version of the same work, albeit with variations, made a few days later between 14 and 26 January 1963 in Mougins.

This poster was reproduced for other exhibitions as indicated in the edition. It was also used for the exhibition of Picasso posters from the Christoph Czwiklitzer Collection at the Galerie Motte, Geneva, between 16 January and 23 February 1968.
