Painted in 1913, Chagall made his first self-portrait titled “Self-Portrait with Seven Fingers” at the age of 25.
The image shows the artist working at his easel. It is considered one of his best-known works, painted during his stay in Paris in his first studio. When looking at the different objects in the painting, they look like broken shapes, almost like a puzzle.
