Descripción

An interpretive rendering created from a 1952 painting. This poster, by Charles Sorlier, does not mention the name of the printmaker.

Paris, the city of wonder and passion, inspired countless works by Chagall, but in this color lithograph the city has never been so beautifully romanticized. The famous Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Élysées are intertwined with lush flowers, an embracing couple, and a rainbow of yellow, orange, pink, and violet. So many different scenes and colors effortlessly blend together to create an incredible, balanced interpretation of love and earth.

Engraved by Charles Sorlier under the direction of Marc Chagall, this work was created from an original oil on canvas and is also part of a poster edition with text for the exhibition of Chagall’s works titled PARIS at the Galerie Maeght.
