Interpretive rendering of a lithograph by Charles Sorlier.
This plate is inspired by a small original black and white lithograph intended for use as a birth announcement (1953). After considerably enlarging the image, the artist produced a colour overlay which served as a model for this plate.
This poster was donated by Marc Chagall to a social service organisation, “Land of Men”, dedicated to helping children in need, to be sold to benefit the organisation.
