This poster was very dear to Picasso and can be seen in his house in Vallauris in a photograph taken by Jacqueline Roque with his friends Vidal Ventosa, Juan Gaspar and the painter Antoni Clavé in 1955.

The background of the poster is made up of five sketches made between 4 and 5 September 1952. Picasso made them during breaks from work on his mural, War and Peace, for the Chapel of Vallauris. Picasso made this etching shortly before his final separation from Françoise.
