Descripción
Neither this poster nor its motif have been reproduced on other posters. The painting presented on this poster is part of the Faun Suite, inspired by the atmosphere of the Antibes Museum and painted by Picasso in his studio there. It has been said that Antibes is the corner of Provence that most resembles Greece. The entire past history of Antibes is mixed with battles, satyrs, mythologies and mystery. It was always a favourite place for artists.
In this environment and with the enthusiasm he felt at the beginning of his relationship with Françoise, Picasso created a valuable collection of paintings full of mythological characters at the Grimaldi Palace.
This painting, within the synthetic cubist concept based on geometric planes, is full of the joy, humour and well-being that characterised this artistic period of Picasso, this period of his life was baptised with the name of “song to life” or as the period of “the smile of Antibes”.
