Description
An interpretive representation created from a 1952 painting. This poster, made by Charles Sorlier, does not mention the engraver’s name.
Paris, city of wonders and passion, inspired countless works by Chagall, but in this color lithograph, the city has never been so beautifully romanticized. The famous Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Élysées intertwine with exuberant flowers, a couple embracing, and a rainbow of yellow, orange, pink, and violet. So many different scenes and colors combine effortlessly to create an incredible and balanced interpretation of love and the earth.
Engraved by Charles Sorlier under the direction of Marc Chagall, this work was created from an original oil on canvas and is also part of a poster edition with text for the exhibition of Chagall’s works entitled PARIS at the Galerie Maeght.
