Interpretive representation of a lithograph by Charles Sorlier.

This plate is inspired by a small original black and white lithograph, intended to be used as a birth announcement (1953). After considerably enlarging the image, the artist produced a color overlay that served as the model for this plate.

This poster was donated by Marc Chagall to a social service organization, “Land of Men,” dedicated to helping needy children, to be sold for the benefit of the organization.
