Original poster, which takes as its subject a rounded square ceramic plaque entitled “Portrait in profile of Jacqueline” made by Picasso in Vallauris on 22 January 1956. This plaque was modelled in white kaolin and is now in the Museum of Modern Art in Céret.
The motif of this poster was reproduced on a new poster for the exhibition of Picasso’s The Last Years at the Palais des Papes in Avignon in the autumn of 1973.
The subject of this poster is a profile of Jacqueline that Picasso drew on a piece of ceramic.
Fascinated by Jacqueline’s classical beauty and natural charm, from the beginning of their relationship Picasso painted “portraits of her, capturing the beauty and evenness of her profile and her large dark eyes”.
