Description

Neither this poster nor its motif have been reproduced in other posters. The painting shows a young couple, naked, frolicking together in the countryside. She appears worried, her gaze belying the apparent stillness of her body, turned to show us her breasts, and her crossed legs revealing the beginnings of her buttocks. Like a snake charmer, the man, whose features and bald head remind us of Picasso, plays the oboe to seduce her. To do so he has adopted a U-shaped position, lying face down with his legs raised behind him and both arms resting on his elbows.

The expression on the faces of both, painted in a monochrome of soft blue tones, deserves to be mentioned for the richness of Picasso-esque humour they contain. To achieve this greater degree of magical expressiveness, Picasso deformed their features by accentuating the essential aspects.
