Description
In this work, an oil painting, the contours of the female head are simplified and idealised; the woman’s face, without reaching the stillness of death, seems removed from time and movement; her silent gaze is innocent and remote. This painting is very similar to another version of the same date, also with an impassive gaze, but with a markedly Hellenic hairstyle and contour.
